January 2011 update

Abigail and I are enjoying a night at home. She is on her computer and I am on mine and we are catching up on some things that we havent taken care of lately. She spent the night with Haleigh and Jordan last night because I was supposed to work today. I ended up not having to work and sat up all night drinking coffee with my sister. The night went so fast and we were at Rose's at 8:50 waiting for them to open. It was quite an enjoyable evening....
Fingers are slowly healing from my fall. Can finally use them without too much pain. Have to work all next week except Wed. when I have a doctors appt. Abigail will be back to school unless we get the predicted bad weather that is called for...Loved seeing new video of sweet little Adalynn tonight. She is so adorable and Kim is so good to keep us updated. Love that little family!!

End of a busy week!!!

Well, the first three days of our going out of business sale are done and we were extremely busy. Many, many people lined up to get in at 10:00. Best day of sales in many years. We have about 6 weeks to go so we will make the best of the time left in the store.

Abigail had her first full day of school on Thursday and seemed to have a really good day. She enjoyed riding the bus to the Gregg Center for after school care. She has several friends there from CDC so she was happy to see them. I don't like the fact that she has to go to after school care but I can't be there to pick her up each day since I have to be at the store during the sale and closing. Plus, I don't know what my job situation will be later so it is best that she go ahead and adjust to this new schedule. She is such an independent little girl, she had me to let her out in the circle on Friday. No walking her in!!

Busy Day!!

A long day at work just trying to catch up from last week and get out in the store to help with tagging sale items. Lots of mental strain due to many mixed emotions about the closing. Becomes more real each day as we move closer to reopening on Thursday.

Abigail had a great day at Tina's playing with Nicholas. I think he had as much fun as she did. Tina was kind enough to help me out since school doesn't start till Thursday for Abigail. I will take her to meet her after school teacher tomorrow since we missed open house on Friday. She will be picked up at school each day to go to the Gregg Center for after school care. I really wish I could pick her up each day but that is not possible right now. I'm sure she will like being with some of her friends from preschool. She is telling me I am the best mom right now (I think because she wants and ice cream cone)!!

First blog post!!

Today is the first of entering the blogging world. I am hoping to keep everyone updated on Abigail as she starts school this week and also share my thoughts over these next few weeks as I am also beginning the sale to close the business that I have worked in for 32 years. It is heart breaking but I know this is what I am supposed to do because I have prayed about this for many months and finally have a peace about it.It is going to be a difficult process as I watch the store be disassembled and everything sold off. It has been my life for so many years that I can't imagine what it will be like for it not to be a part of our lives. I also feel like I am leaving a part of Danny behind since he started the business and we worked in it together for so many years. The only thing that lessens that pain is that we never actually worked in this store together since Danny died just after it was opened in September 2005. But, I know there is a plan and He will show me the way that I am to take because right now, I don't have a clue as to what that is going to be. It is a little frightening but I have lived my life with the confidence that He will take care of me and my family.

As I move through this process and try to figure out what to do next, I am more aware of missing my sister, Vicky. She was so great at helping you to figure out what you want to do in life. I never realized it while she was here with us but boy now that I really need that, I miss her even more.
